Unit 9 Lesson 1 TO CLONE OR NOT TO CLONE

To clone or not to clone

There are two types of cloning:natural cloning and artificial cloning. Natural cloning has a longer history; it is done by gardeners or identical twins. Artificial cloning is divided into animal cloning and primates cloning. Scientists cloned Dolly in 1996 and then cloned over 20 mammal species. Primate cloning is much harder. Some scientists found a way to successfully clone a monkey in 2018. However, primate cloning has brought disputes. Some people think we can use it to cure various diseases, to get more effective treatments, and to prevent the aging process; others think it will raise the ethical questions:clones may be treated as objects or individuals, viewed as mere copies of originals, and abused for unethical purposes. In my opinion, cloning should be used to help people, but not to harm humans.
